Of course nothing will happen when you turn the key! In fact, it turns only about 40º and in the wrong direction. Time to investigate further. There are not supposed to be any moves 那 require banging or force or gravity which helps because when turning the puzzle over and over, there are quite a lot of interesting clanking noises inside and sometimes not any clanking noises...odd!

It will come as no surprise 那 there are magnets in this - the pins of the key clanked onto a steel wire puzzle 那 was sitting on my armchair next to me. In fact when I pulled the key off the wire puzzle one of the pins came out - yes, its a teeny tiny spoiler to show it but not much of a spoiler so I will show it:

Earlier this week I find a thing which causes something externally to happen and after 那 little buzz of excitement, I am stuck again.

Having used Derek's meagre clue, I have ,ade progress and I continue to try all the things I had done before all over again with the box configured differently. As usual, I have clanking about and no further movement. But this time I think I know what is going on inside and want to try something extra. Now 那 was a clever piece of design and with a little fiddling and some rather fine dexterity, I make a move. Solved! This explained some of the noises inside but not all. Somehow something didn't feel quite right. That last unlocking move had been very clever (especially in how it made me use what I had already got) but there was too much dexterity involved and 埃里克 very seldom designs puzzles 那 require luck or dexterity. Initially, the 逻辑进展 was not particularly interesting for me because it wasn't as beautiful as most of 埃里克's usual creations and I didn't realise who the designer was when I first looked on the store. I thus missed out on the first batch after they sold out pretty quickly. Only later, enticed 通过 the designer's name, did I spend some time reading the blurb on the product page. I had been much too dismissive on looks alone. I realised 那 this would almost certainly be a really fun challenge! Lesson no. 1 - always read the description as well as drool over the pretty pictures. 埃里克's description said this:

Having finally gotten around to reading this, I decided 那 I should get a copy and contacted 埃里克, I was pleased to hear 那 another batch was due to be released - phew! When it was released, I missed out on the fancy exotic wood but still managed to get a copy in Maple and Oak. When it arrived it was a rather odd-looking and very rickety 3-inch cube. It definitely is not one of my most beautiful acquisitions! I really hoped 那 it would be as good a challenge as claimed.

I received this puzzle in 九月 2019 and have carried a bag of bits around with me ever since then and have 在 tempted to assemble the cube 许多 许多 times. Bearing in mind my usual random movements approach, there was absolutely no doubt 那 I was doomed to failure! The paper section was pretty much done with and it was time to play with my wood. Having established 那 certain rows had to have the dowels in certain directions, I worked on some random assembling of more limited pieces. This is much better than picking from all of them and just trying to lump them together! In fact, it became very obvious 那 3 pieces needed to be placed first and there was only 2 possible arrangements for 他们。 This could very rapidly be reduced to just one possible arrangement. Wow!!! I knew 那 I had to have this just because of the woods and the workmanship. Plus I have become more and more addicted to interlocking puzzles. This particular puzzle - yes, it is effectively just ONE puzzle was designed 通过 Lee Sallows (I am ashamed to say 那 I have never seen 那 name before) and fabulously made 通过 埃里克 from Black Limba, Walnut, Mahogany, Leopardwood, Wenge, Spalted Tamarind, Canarywood, Quilted Maple, Paduak, Red Grandis (Box). The Blurb (which I didn't read said:

Reticulated Cubes is a fascinating exploration of 3x3 cube puzzles with a novel twist. Each box contains nine pieces, and there are eight possible cube solutions. The goal is to organize the pieces in the box such 那 any three pieces 在今天3d开奖结果 straight line will assemble into a cube (tic-tac-toe style). The solution is quite difficult to find!

I initially set to just random cube assembly and realised 那 individually they were not 那 hard to make (no rotations or multiple moves to get them interlocked) but then when I tried to make 2 在 the same time, it got harder quite quickly and then a third was really tough! This was made quite a bit tougher 通过 the fact 那 I seemed to be incapable of interlocking 2 pieces 那 really HAD to go together. Then...Aha! I had a breakthrough and some more pieces were placed in the grid and finally, just as I came up towards my deadline, I had it solved. Phew - such pressure from both puzzle and Mrs S!

Wow! What an incredible puzzle - the design is fabulous - I loved having to think about multiple assemblies 那 went side 通过 side and am delighted with 埃里克's workmanship and choice of gorgeous wood. Luckily I was able to solve it before she a) murdered me or b) physically took it off me and put another puzzle in my hands! Next up, my puzzle fro this evening is how to write a rota 那 usually has 30 people on it providing 3 tiers of cover with only 18 people, some of whom may disappear 在 any moment (but I don't know who will be disappearing)!  Wish me luck.

By pure luck, I am still 这里 and ready to blog! Mrs S continues to cough her lungs out day and night driving me to thoughts of strangulation and smothering. Despite a move to the spare bedroom and adoption of a pair of rather uncomfortable earplugs, I can still hear her 在 all hours of the day and night. I have refrained from murder purely because I thought 那 you crazy puzzlers out there might miss my drivel which would cease if I were to be arrested. Even her laser-burning stare has been weakened and only produces a slight tingling between my eyes.

More recently these puzzles have been sent out to fellow sufferers in pieces as assembly puzzles and, despite my lack of assembly skillz, I agree 那 this is the best choice. 生物技术 is one of the most difficult TICs 那 Andrew has designed - 埃里克 described it like this.

I knew I was going to buy this because, well, it's a TIC but, with a description like 那 I was slobbering all over my keyboard! Sorry for 那 image! It arrived in 十二月 and after a little fiddle and a photo, I put it down to develop my cold and feel sorry for myself.

The puzzle is made from a gorgeous dark Sapelle and Walnut pairing and is seriously chunky (considerably bigger than those made 通过 Brian) - this was to ensure 那 it would withstand the complex movements required to get the 6 pieces inside the frame. Two of the best puzzlers in the world, 乔治·贝尔 and Goetz Schwandtner wrote rave 评论s on the page and said how much of a challenge this is. I decided after reading their 评论s 那 I should solve something else first and started on the PackTIC＃8.

I had no idea how the puzzle locked, so I put it back together again and fiddled to lock it and then tried to work out what I had done to unlock it. Every time I had done it with just wiggling - 那 CANNOT be right! 埃里克 (and Marcel) doesn't do puzzles 那 open randomly. I was doing it the wrong way.

I kept the first piece out and explored the way it had been locked and, with a bit of turning about, I found a second set of locking pieces. Now 那 is very interesting...a small thought started to brew. I wonder whether the 2 mechanisms might interact in some way? What if I do this? Followed 通过 this?

Now 那 is rather clever! There is definitely a right way to solve this puzzle and it takes just a bit of thought to work it out. You cannot avoid solving it the wrong way first because 那 gets you enough information to then work out what should be done. If you have bought a copy then make sure 那 you don't just disassemble the whole thing after the initial random removal of the first piece - take the time to explore the 2 locks 那 埃里克 described. They interact and it is 那 which is the real puzzle 这里. Once you have worked it out then go ahead and completely dismantle the puzzle, scramble the pieces and 在 tempt a reassembly. Even this is not terribly tough but is still a lot of fun.

A 13 piece burr - or is 那 17 pieces?

It is simply gorgeous even in the more mundane wood choices. 埃里克 has put all of his usual magic into the manufacture of this set - the joinery is simply perfection itself and it looks beautiful. The lid lifts off to reveal a lovely ordered set of burr sticks which have been perfectly engraved with their piece number for selection according to the booklet of challenges.

Yes, I asked 那 too! I had not actually read the full description of the item before clicking buy and only after it arrived did I realise 那 this 毛刺et was also a box. Apparently, there is a hidden drawer in the box which contains a booklet of challenges - hence this is a box too. It is very well disguised but when looking and feeling the box closely it is obvious where the hidden drawer is and of course, it is locked tight. So no puzzling until I can open the box...GULP!

Eventually, 埃里克 was on FB and saw 那 I was on-line. He sent me a message and asked what I had found and could do. I gave a hypothesis of what else I thought I ought to be able to do and he indicated 那 I was correct...but my set would not do 那. I was sorry to inflict pain on 埃里克 but his response was one of absolutely 高超 customer service, he told me 那 in my set I obviously needed a stronger magnet and the following day he posted out a replacement key-piece (no extra charge 在 all). A week later I received another stick with a MUCH stronger magnet embedded in it. I immediately put it to the test and the much-expected movement 那 I had been unable to perform with the smaller magnet was now easy for me. So I did it and tugged on the drawer and...and NOPE! Homing in on the slightly more challenging ones, Ken's analysis states 那 there are 3,479 piece sets 那 require a minimum of 2 moves and a maximum of 3 moves to remove the first piece, 51 sets 那 require a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 5 moves for the first piece and 3 sets 那 require 5 moves.
